An artist and photographer with a keen eye for detail, Jean believes in keeping things simple; from charming, tender portraits, to elegant wedding albums, her images are understated, naturally-lit, and beautifully realised.
Jean’s striking artwork informs her photography; she favours a relaxed and intuitive approach, paying close attention to colour, texture, lighting and composition. Sitters are encouraged to pose themselves. Even in the studio Jean’s use of flash is naturalistic, allowing a subject’s personality to come through and lending finished portraits a rare humour and integrity.
Jean, who founded New Natural Photography in 2007, rarely has to look far for inspiration. Living and working in West Yorkshire, she takes her cue from the surrounding countryside including Holmfirth and the South Pennines and the nearby Peak District National Park.
